    1. The lengthy editing starts now. Well to be honest I want to start properly in January. Because December is always a crazy month with four kids. Not just because of Nikolaus and Christmas. But one sings so there are concerts, two take drama class, one plays guitar and is now in a band and so there are even more concerts. One is a ballet dancer so there will be a show or two. Two are in the fire service – that’s really hectic at this time, today they’re putting up the Christmas tree and there are other extra duties. And fund raising events.

And on top of that there are the normal extra Christmas activities like going to the theatre. Then their various extra curricular activities mean extra parties (one’s a school first aider and one is doing a photography course too) and then we seem to have a lot of friends with birthday parties in December.

I also feel I need to see people. I became a hermit for the whole of November! But I guess I can’t leave my book alone for the whole month, I already couldn’t leave it alone yesterday and I couldn’t sleep last night for excitement!!!

I think it will take between three and six months of concentrated work to edit. I just noticed on my NaNoWriMo account I can get three copies of the book printed for free as a winner from one company if I apply before the middle of next June. I guess that’s my finish deadline then. 🙂

      1. I hear you! When I switched my calendar to December this morning, I saw the first two weeks already have stuff written in for every single day, yikes! I’m sure it will be good for you to take a break and see your first manuscript with a refreshed set of eyes.

    1. Thanks Dianne. It’s really a challenge that you set yourself. You know you have ‘that book’ in you and so you sign up to write the first 50,000 words in 30 days. If you do it you’re a winner.
The thing that I found really encouraging is that several hundred thousand people are doing it at the same time. And of those people, you can pick a few and they’re your buddies. You can mail each other and offer advice and encouragement. On the website you can see how many words they have written in comparison to you and it urges you to try and complete.

I’ve had ‘that book’ in my mind now for several years and I never got around to writing the first draft because I was always too busy looking after the kids etc but the challenge made me say to everyone this is really important to me, it’s something that I really, really want to do and it’s only for 30 days.
The idea is also that because you keep writing, every day, the book will naturally evolve out of you.

um… if this is also your toilet book will it come in sheets or rolls rather than in chapters ? 🙂
Rolls, scrolls, you could start a new trend LOL

  2. Hi sarsm,

Hope you had a great Christmas!

I’ve been tagged on my blog about writing my novel. Flattered and agreed to do it. I thought it would get me to think about my novel in a different way. I have to tag 3-5 people so I thought about tagging you, since you also did NaNoWriMo and succeeded! Would you be interested? If so please can you get back to me with a yay or nay at some point over the weekend. You would basically answer the same questions and tag more bloggers, putting their links, while linking back to my link. This should make an enormous chain and get you some views and contact.

    1. Thank you!! I tried to comment on your blog but it wouldn’t let me. Then I tried to write you an email and we had a split second power cut and then my computer stopped working. It was all really bizarre!!!

I hope all is going well with you. Hugs.
